DAVID’S CHECK CASHING DEBUTS NEW STORE LOOK

May 25 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Included Presentation to Salvation Army

BRONX, NY – MAY 27, 2011 – On May 25, David’s Check Cashing celebrated the re-commissioning of its recently remodeled headquarter location in the heart of the HUB, at 3015 Third Avenue (at 155th Street), Bronx. A ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by community leaders,
financial industry representatives, and customers, and highlighted with a contribution to the Salvation Army. Local community leaders in attendance included Madeline Marquez, Executive Director, Business Initiative Corp. of New York, Sergeant Major Fitz Lewis, Jr. of the Salvation Army, and Matthew Shuffler representing the office of Assemblyman Marcos Crespo.

Since 1957, David’s Financial Corp. has helped millions of customers from all walks of life achieve access to cash, bill payment, money order, and other critical financial services. The new look debuting at David’s flagship location is just part of a larger program re-affirming the company’s commitment to the neighborhoods that it serves. David’s is in the process of renovating many of its stores, upgrading their physical appearance and installing new interior and exterior signage. To support the renovations, David’s is also committed to improving customer service. 

“We have invested heavily in improving our hiring practices and training techniques to enhance the level of customer service our associates provide; as well as, added to new product offerings to meet the needs of our customers,” Ira Krell, CFO of David’s said during his ceremony remarks. 

David’s service to the communities in which it operates extends beyond the front doors of its stores. David’s has a long history of proudly supporting community organizations and interests and in particular supports the Salvation Army locally. In addition when each holiday season every David’s store conducts a raffle for both customers and non-customers, giving everyone the opportunity to win a giant toy-filled stocking, extra stocking are donated to the Salvation Army to benefit local families. During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Mr. Krell presented an additional contribution of $500 to Sergeant Major Lewis.

David’s has also been a generous contributor to its industry association, Financial Service Centers of New York’s (FSCNY) annual scholarship program. Since the scholarship’s inception in 1996 more
than half a million dollars has been awarded to high school seniors representing all five boroughs, helping nearly 250 deserving students attend Ivy Leagues and other selective universities and colleges. David’s has spearheaded an education initiative to improve financial literacy among second graders in N.Y.C, through a partnership with American Credit Alliance, and the support of Western Union. John Rosario, Regional Director, Western Union participated in the ceremony, making remarks regarding the literacy program.
